ZAWAR GROUP OF MINES is located at a distance of 40 kilometers from the Udaipur district of Rajasthan State in INDIA.

ZAWAR GROUP OF MINES is one of the oldest metal mine in ASIA. Here the ore is extracted from the ancient times by the kings.The estimated age of mine is about 4000 years.Earlier the extraction of ore was done by OPENCAST method of mining.But with the passage of time different metal mining companies were engaged for the extraction of metal.

At present the ore is extracted by the collaboration of two major metal mining companies.

• HINDUSTAN ZINC LIMITED
• VEDANTA

The Annual Production is an average of about 10,000,00 tonnes per annum.

SUBLEVEL method of underground metal mining is used for the extraction of ore.

ZAWAR is a small village named after the goddess ZAWARMATA .The ore deposits are the of Zinc (Zn) [Sphalerite] and Lead (Pb) [Galena] in major and some sorts of Silver (Ag) and Iron (Fe) are also present in ore but the later are considered as waste and are not extracted.The ore deposits are present on the Hills.The deposits are extracted from the four main Hills........

MOCHIA

MOCHIA is rich in ZINC.

The reach to the deposits is directly by means of SHAFT.

SHAFT of MOCHIA MINE

In MOCHIA the ore from the other mines is collected and is then sent to the MILL to analyse the mixed ore into the ores of Zinc (Zn) and Lead (Pb) seprately.

In MOCHIA total 8 levels are present i.e 452,413,312,252,192,132,44,-45.

BALARIA

BALARIA is rich i the ore of Zinc (Zn).

The reach to the deposits is by means of shaft followed by an ADIT of 80 metres

ADIT OF BALARIA MINE

The ADIT is upto the SHAFT and then SHAFT reaches to different levels.Here total 8 levels are present.

i.e 378,314,250,190,120,105,45 and -40.Out of that 314 has become a void.

ZAWARMALA AND BAROI

Located about 29 miles SE of Udaipur City. Mine is at least 480 feet deep with 4 levels 120 feet apart vertically.
The lead zinc ore mineralization is hosted by sheared metamorphosed dolomite.
